Harmony and Me
…are pretty good company…. (lyrics by Elton John)
Harmony to me is very good company. Always invited, yet sometimes elusive.
It is in the foreground of my consciousness lately. I chose it as the theme of my Spring Retreat. The word has been nudging me like a loyal companion that has something important to say.
What does harmony really mean, though? What does it have to say?
When I have questions like this, I go to my best advisor…my heart. And my heart said this. It’s for you and for me:
Harmony is your true nature – balanced, at ease, joyous, loving, and free.
Harmony can be harnessed by accepting life as it is at this moment, and knowing that the next moment is an opportunity to move toward wholeness and freedom.
Let the natural world show you. Watch the sun rise and set, the seasons change, the forest takes care of itself when left alone and free to be.
Discover harmony in the natural flow of a stream moving through and around obstacles, continuing its journey.
Listen for harmony in the music you love — it’s the integration of sound and voice and finely tuned instruments.
Like homeostasis is the organic state of your physical being, harmony is the energetic equivalent. With the right care and tending, you will return to it.
Feelings of disharmony are a guiding light. What is it that needs to shift, heal, be seen? This question gives you a seed of truth. To return to harmony, plant this seed with intention, give it daily attention, move with integrity and purpose, and create space for harmony to be restored.
Harmony is an inside job. It may take time. It is possible. It is vital.
Harmony is a foundation for the most beautiful expression of your being.
Yes, harmony indeed is very good company.
What does harmony mean to you?
I would love to hear your thoughts and comments.
